Record-Breaking BO3 Defeat: FlyQuest vs T1 at MSI 2024

Staying true to the iconic NA (Near Airport) meme, FlyQuest’s defeat against reigning world champions T1 at MSI 2024 was such a dominant performance that they established a new record for the quickest BO3 at an international tournament.

Given that T1 emerged victorious at Worlds in 2023, it comes as no surprise that FlyQuest was defeated by them. LCS teams have historically struggled against LCK teams, and this trend continued at MSI 2024.

Despite the attention-grabbing dismantling of FlyQuest, it was for all the wrong reasons. Their rapid defeat resulted in them achieving the fastest international BO3 set ever.

With a total game time of slightly more than 45 minutes, they significantly surpassed the previous record set by Golden Guardians last year with a 48-minute match.

The initial match was the turning point, evident from Bwipo’s expression as he struggled against the T1’s top players. The game concluded in a remarkably quick 17:31, just a minute before the infamous MAD Lions match, also won by T1.

Despite being only a minute and a half longer, this match surpassed the record for the fastest BO3 game in international LoL history, which was previously held by T1’s defeat against Invictus at MSI 2019 with a time of 16:01. Unfortunately, T1 has not been able to secure a quick enough victory to erase their record of being on the losing side of history.

Despite their efforts, FlyQuest was unable to avoid setting a new record in the second match, which ended at the 27:52 mark just like the first one. Although they did not have the quickest single-game defeat in international history, they did manage to break the record for the entire set.

Despite finishing with a final total time of 45:23, this series solidified NA’s reputation for setting Near Airport records. However, FlyQuest still has a chance to advance in the event. If they can defeat the team from the lower bracket, they will secure a spot in the Bracket Stage.

Despite being one of North America’s most promising teams this year, FlyQuest still has a lot of work ahead of them if they hope to make an impact in international competition against the world’s top teams.
