A restaurant has addressed a TikTok user’s assertions regarding exorbitant “prep fees”added to her and her friends’ margarita orders.
TikTok influencer ‘Blondes Who Eat’ is known for showcasing popular food spots in the Dallas, TX area.
In her latest viral video, she revealed that the restaurant Mar Y Sol Cocina Latina charged her table these alleged “prep fees”after they enjoyed an “exceptional”dinner.
In her TikTok clip, she expressed her shock upon discovering that her meal and drinks, which she estimated should cost around $150, had totaled $530.
She detailed the added costs for each margarita purchased, stating that the fees were incurred because the bartender had to shake the drinks, with charges varying based on the tequila’s quality.
For the $14 margaritas, an additional $3 was charged per drink. The $32 margaritas featured a $13 prep fee, while the $28 margarita came with a $15 fee. The double margarita was especially pricey with a $22 added charge.

Following the TikToker’s viral post, Mar Y Sol Cocina Latina humorously responded on Instagram, stating, “No extra fees were charged in the shaking of this cocktail,” accompanied by a wink emoji.
Viewers and followers quickly reacted to the restaurant’s reply, with many supporting the TikTok influencer. One commented, “Not according to your reviews,” while another added, “Tacky.”
A viewer even suggested that the TikToker dispute the charge, arguing that it felt “illegal” if the restaurant didn’t disclose the extra prep fee on their menu.
Conversely, some praised the restaurant’s playful response as “brilliant marketing,” believing it was an effective way to handle a situation they couldn’t ignore.
Earlier this year, a different restaurant received attention for its witty responses to negative reviews, with the owner gaining acclaim for cleverly defending her establishment online.
