Re:ZERO Season 3 Episode 1 Recap
In Episode 1 of Re:ZERO season 3, titled Theatrical Malice, Subaru found himself navigating an obstacle course designed to enhance his physical abilities since he is now officially serving as Emilia’s knight. Moments later, Petra arrived, alerting Subaru and Beatrice about an unexpected visitor.
During this episode, Subaru experienced a touching reunion with Mimi Pearlbaton, one of the guests. Upon reaching Emilia’s quarters, Subaru encountered another surprise visitor – it was Joshua Euclius, a messenger for Anastasia Hoshin and the younger sibling of Julius.
Joshua conveyed the invitation they received from Anastasia to visit the Watergate city of Priestella, where they could find the merchant in possession of the magical crystal Emilia needed for recalling Puck.
Upon reaching Priestella, Subaru and the others met Anastasia and Julius at their designated inn. After introductions, Anastasia disclosed that the crystal Emilia sought was owned by The Songstress Maniac, the heir of the Muse Company.
Eventually, they encountered the Songstress, known as Liliana Masquerade. This encounter led them to unexpectedly cross paths with Regulus Corneas, the Sin Archbishop of Greed, who allowed them to leave unharmed while hinting at sinister plans involving the Witch’s Cult.
Upon returning to their inn, the group found Reinhard van Astrea, Crusch, Felix Argyle, Wilhelm van Astrea, Anastasia, and Julius waiting for them. With everyone gathered, Anastasia explained her intentions to discuss the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony.
However, the episode took a dark turn when Subaru encountered the Sin Archbishop of Wrath, who killed him and an entire crowd, along with a boy she held captive. Thankfully, Subaru was returned by his Return by Death ability just before he was separated from Emilia and the group, bringing the episode to a close.
