The second episode, titled “The End of Ice and Fire,”opened with Subaru calming himself after he respawned using his “Return by Death”power. However, he quickly realized his reset point was moments before the Sin Archbishop of Wrath, Sirius Romanee-Conti, slaughtered him along with many others at the Time Tower.

While initially considering bringing Beatrice along, he opted to ask her to stay with Emilia for her safety. Unfortunately, Subaru’s attempt to confront Sirius on his own ended in tragedy, as he was once more killed after a short exchange about fear and feelings.

After reviving again, Subaru understood that he couldn’t take on Sirius by himself, leading him to seek Reinhard van Astrea’s assistance. Unfortunately, Reinhard’s arrival was too late, as Subaru and the gathered crowd had already succumbed to Sirius’ influence.

While Reinhard’s presence gave hope to others, the situation deteriorated when he approached Sirius to finish her off, resulting in a disaster where Subaru and the crowd met their demise once again due to a catastrophic strike.

Upon reviving yet again, Subaru was filled with despair over Reinhard’s failure to stop Sirius. He then decided to enlist Beatrice’s help, explaining the dire situation to her.

Beatrice suggested utilizing Shamac against Sirius to neutralize her abilities, which could help defeat the Sin Archbishop without further loss of life.

Emilia, motivated by Priscilla, joined Subaru in the fight despite his pleas for her safety. The episode concluded with an intense confrontation between Emilia and Sirius, where Emilia held her ground momentarily but was ultimately overpowered just as Regulus Corneas appeared to intervene.
