Roblox Unveils AI as a Player-Centric Tool
Roblox has launched a beta version of an AI tool that empowers players to create interactive in-game objects using text prompts. This feature is expected to evolve, with plans for comprehensive scene generation in the pipeline.
This functionality was initially available to select creators as an enhancement to its existing asset generator. Players can now type prompts and instantly receive usable game objects, significantly benefiting the gaming experience.
All creators on the Roblox platform will soon have access to this tool. Currently, it supports two object types: a drivable four-wheeled car and a singular mesh structure. Despite its current limitations, Roblox reports impressive preliminary outcomes. For instance, in a beta test titled Wish Master, players generated over 160, 000 objects within just six months. Notably, engagement metrics indicate that these players experienced a remarkable 64% increase in average playtime.
A broader vision is also in the works, which aims to enable players to craft entire games through live prompting. Roblox’s CEO, Dave Baszucki, articulates this concept as “real-time dreaming, ” where game worlds dynamically reshape in response to user prompts.
