Upgrade Modules are critical assets in Destiny 2, playing a vital role in enhancing your gear to tackle the game’s most demanding challenges. If you’re aiming to power up your equipment and dive into Destiny’s endgame scenarios, raising your Power Level is essential. Under-equipped guardians risk dealing insufficient damage and suffering greater harm from formidable foes.
Gathering a supply of Upgrade Modules is crucial for maximizing your gear’s potential. Below are the best-known strategies utilized by top players to ensure they have a steady stock of these necessary items, ready for whatever challenges Bungie introduces.
Sources of Upgrade Modules
Discover the various methods available for acquiring Upgrade Modules, arranged by feasibility:
- Buy from ADA-1 or Banshee-44
- Level up seasonal vendors
- Advance your Season Pass
- Utilize the Modularity Ghost Shell mod
- Employ Concentrated Mattergems
- Participate in seasonal events

Buy from ADA-1 or Banshee-44

Your most straightforward path to obtaining Upgrade Modules is to buy them directly from either ADA-1 or Banshee-44. Each module costs 1 Enhancement Core and 5,000 Glimmer, making it convenient to accumulate a significant quantity quickly.
ADA-1 can be located in the western area of The Tower, just north of the Annex landing zone, while Banshee-44 is situated in the eastern half, nestled between Master Rahool and Lord Shaxx.
Level Up Seasonal Vendors

Another effective way to gather Upgrade Modules is by ranking up various seasonal vendors, which incentivizes continuous engagement. Notable vendors such as Banshee-44, Commander Zavala, Saint-14, Lord Shaxx, and The Drifter reward players with Upgrade Modules as they increase their vendor ranks.
Note that some vendors may require rank resets before granting Upgrade Modules, while others award them immediately. It’s typically best to rank up whichever vendor aligns with your current preferred activities instead of targeting a specific one.
Advance Your Season Pass

Another reliable way to acquire Upgrade Modules is by progressing through the Season Pass, where you can earn a total of 39 Upgrade Modules at the following Season Ranks: 2, 3, 4, 11, 13, 14, 24, 34, 44, 64, 104, 114, and 153.
To collect these rewards, you’ll either need to own the current Season Pass or have purchased The Final Shape: Annual Pass Upgrade. Interestingly, some rewards are also accessible via the free path, making them available to everyone.
Utilize the Modularity Ghost Shell Mod

Equipping the Modularity mod to your Ghost Shell can significantly enhance your Upgrade Module acquisition. This mod provides the effect: “Achieving victory in Ritual Activities grants a chance to award an Upgrade Module.”
This means engaging in any Vanguard activity or emerging victorious in Crucible or Gambit matches may earn you an Upgrade Module. However, be mindful that the chances of obtaining one are relatively low, so this method should serve as a supplementary source rather than the primary means of gathering Upgrade Modules.
Employ Concentrated Mattergems

Concentrated Mattergems are consumable items that can trigger the effect: “Bosses have a chance to drop an Upgrade Module when defeated. Effect lasts until an Upgrade Module is found.”
This strategy is particularly useful if you have surplus Bright Dust, as each Concentrated Mattergem costs 200 Bright Dust from the Eververse Store. However, this method is generally considered less beneficial compared to purchasing Upgrade Modules from Banshee or ADA, given the relative scarcity and value of Glimmer.
Participate in Seasonal Events

During active seasonal events, you can progress through event cards to unlock various rewards, including Upgrade Modules. This method allows you to accumulate supplies while enjoying the related content.
The caveat is that these events occur only during specific weeks of the year, so you’ll need to engage in one of the seasonal events such as Guardian Games, Solstice, Festival of the Lost, or The Dawning to access Upgrade Modules.
How to Utilize Upgrade Modules
To effectively use Upgrade Modules, follow these steps:
- Open your Character screen, which displays your currently equipped weapons and armor.
- Hover over the equipment you wish to upgrade and press Right Click/Y/Triangle.
- Hover over Infuse and hold F or press in the Right Stick to infuse the selected gear.

To perform an infusion, you need another piece of gear that has a higher Power rating and occupies the same slot. For instance, to upgrade a Stasis Hand Cannon, you must have a different weapon with greater Power in the Kinetic slot.
Additionally, you will need at least one Upgrade Module, and ensure that the gear to be infused is not locked. If necessary, you can unlock items during the infusion process. Exercise caution to avoid dismantling valuable gear, as this action cannot be undone.
Upgrade Module Limit
Keep in mind that you can only hold up to 25 Upgrade Modules at any given time. This limit is fixed and cannot be exceeded using any of the methods outlined above.
Any additional Upgrade Modules received beyond this cap will be unavailable, essentially going to waste or needing to be collected later once you clear some space in your inventory.
