The popular multiplayer mod, Bully Online, has officially been terminated, confirmed by its developers who have taken all related services offline. The decision marks the end of a project that allowed gamers to immerse themselves in a unique roleplaying experience set in a fictional New England environment.
In a statement released by the Bully Online development team, they announced the permanent shutdown, revealing that the server would cease operation. Within 24 hours, the entire infrastructure associated with the mod was also set for removal.
Importantly, the announcement emphasized that there would be no revival of the project. The team declared a halt to the development of scripts, the removal of the source code, and the discontinuation of launcher downloads. Additionally, all player account data associated with Bully Online will be deleted irretrievably.

Launched initially as an open-source multiplayer experience in December 2025, Bully Online featured numerous role-playing segments alongside various mini-games, fostering a community dedicated to shared experiences. However, the recent shutdown has left the dedicated player base stunned and searching for answers.
Reasons Behind the Shutdown
While the announcement did not specify the reasons for this abrupt cessation, it poignantly referenced that it was a decision the developers did not wish to make. Speculation quickly surfaced, primarily focusing on the possibility that Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive, the companies behind the original Bully game, may have intervened to halt the project.

As players were informed about the impending shutdown, they were encouraged to seize the opportunity to play for the final 24 hours, backing up any cherished memories through screenshots before everything goes offline. In conjunction, all Discord channels associated with Bully Online will also be eradicated.
Despite its promising launch and the excitement surrounding its development, the cozy hope for future expansions such as a potential Bully 2 appears dashed, as reiterated by one of Rockstar’s co-founders in September 2025.
Stay tuned for updates as more information regarding the reasons and implications of Bully Online’s termination emerges.
