Revealed: Robert Pattinson’s Hidden Role as Marty Supreme

In a delightful twist, Robert Pattinson takes on a surprising role in Josh Safdie’s latest film, Marty Supreme, though audiences won’t see him on screen. Instead, he lends his voice to the project.

Pattinson and Timothée Chalamet are increasingly becoming a dynamic duo in the film industry. They first teamed up in the 2019 historical drama The King, where Chalamet portrayed Henry V and Pattinson played Louis, Duke of Guyenne.

Fans can look forward to seeing them together again in the highly anticipated December 2026 release, Dune: Part Three. Chalamet will reprise his role as Paul Atreides, while Pattinson will embody the shape-shifting villain Scytale, who plots against this presumed savior.

However, attentive viewers might catch Pattinson’s unique contribution to Chalamet’s acclaimed new film, Marty Supreme, through a voiceover during the opening scenes.

Pattinson as the Voice of the Umpire in Marty Supreme

Director Josh Safdie, who previously worked with Pattinson on the 2017 crime drama Good Time, recently discussed the film at the BFI on London’s South Bank. He disclosed the little-known fact that Pattinson provided the voice for the commentator in the film, adding an unexpected layer to the viewing experience.

“No one knows this, but that voice – the commentator, the umpire – is Pattinson, ” Safdie explained, as reported by Variety.“It’s like a little Easter egg. Nobody knows about that.”

The cameo occurs at the beginning of Marty Supreme, during a pivotal scene in which Chalamet’s character, the ping-pong prodigy Marty Mauser, faces off against the reigning Hungarian champion, Bela Kletzki, portrayed by Géza Röhrig, in the semi-finals of the British Open.

Safdie further elaborated on how this voice cameo came to fruition, stating: “He came and watched some stuff and I was like, ‘I don’t know any British people.’ So he’s the umpire.”
