Twitch has recently addressed concerns raised by veteran streamer Kalei, who criticized the platform for unilaterally revoking her 70/30 subscription revenue split. The removal was reportedly communicated to her via email without prior notice.
During a live stream, Kalei expressed her frustration, revealing that she was surprised to find out about the change. She had initially entered into a 10-year esports contract with Twitch and believes there should still be time remaining on the agreement. This unexpected alteration has left her seeking answers.

Twitch’s Response Regarding Contractual Changes
In response to the backlash, Twitch released a statement via X, clarifying that their payout structures for historical agreements are not being altered. A Twitch spokesperson emphasized, “We have longstanding agreements with a limited number of streamers who have been with Twitch since its early days.”
Furthermore, Twitch assured that they are committed to honoring these historical contracts and stated, “We are not changing payout structure or requirements to sustain their payout structure with this change.”

The platform further explained that the update Kalei referenced was not linked to any changes in contracts but instead involved a backend technical update aimed at streamlining payouts across the board.
Kalei also pointed out that since this update, her subscriber count is not reflecting towards partner requirements, and she is now tasked with acquiring 90 new subscribers by March to meet the updated criteria. In light of this, she has indicated her intention to reach out to her Twitch representative for further clarification.
As a prominent figure on the platform, Kalei has consistently voiced her opinions on various developments, including her removal from FaZe during the team’s 2024 reboot, making her remarks all the more significant in the ongoing discussion about streamer contracts and platform policies.
