In a conversation with Empire, the Russo Brothers emphasized that Avengers: Doomsday cannot succeed without the inclusion of Steve Rogers, more widely recognized as Captain America (played by Chris Evans).Fans will recall that in Avengers: Endgame, he journeyed back in time to return the Infinity Stones before settling down with Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell).

The first teaser for Doomsday hints at Rogers’ new life, showing him reminiscing about his former uniform and embracing his child. Anthony Russo shared insights into this pivotal character’s role in the sequel, stating, “We have a special affinity with the character. We can’t envision this narrative without his central role in it. The unique place he occupies within the ensemble almost necessitates his involvement moving forward.”
