Ryan Garcia arrested for alleged felony vandalism at Los Angeles hotel

Boxer Ryan Garcia was taken into custody for reportedly causing damage to hotel property at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.

TMZ Sports reports that on June 8, Ryan Garcia was taken away from the hotel in handcuffs by police after causing damage to his room and a hallway.

According to the footage, the boxer was seen leaving the building with law enforcement, without a shirt and wearing a helmet. Although his face was not visible, Garcia’s identity was revealed by his distinctive back tattoos.

Garcia’s recent arrest was preceded by a strange outburst on social media (previously known as Twitter) by the 25-1 boxer. In one of his posts, Garcia stated, “They are attempting to pin their mistakes on me, but they will not find any evidence.”

The police had initially been summoned to the Waldorf Astoria prior to the arrest, as a family member of Garcia had raised concerns about his well-being. After confirming that the boxer was safe, they left, but were called back when Garcia caused a disturbance at the hotel after being refused further alcohol.

According to TMZ, Garcia was allegedly compliant with authorities and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time of his arrest. This could potentially result in a felony charge in California, as any damage exceeding $400 can be considered a felony.

Earlier this year, Garcia shocked the boxing community by beating Devin Haney in their April 20 bout. However, he later tested positive for a prohibited substance called Ostarine.

The boxing commission subsequently sanctioned him with Garcia’s team advocating for the sanction to last no longer than “four months.”His lawyers argued that the findings indicated Garcia was an innocent victim of supplement contamination and had not deliberately taken any performance-enhancing substances.

It is uncertain if Garcia will face charges after his arrest, but we will keep this space updated as the story progresses.
