It appears that Sakamoto Days is building significant traction on Netflix. Premiering on January 11, the series faced some initial backlash from fans dissatisfied with its animation style. Despite this, the show’s appeal seems to be growing, as it currently ranks as one of the most-watched non-English titles on the platform, holding a strong second position globally, right after Squid Game Season 2.
In its third episode, viewers are treated to the introduction of a pivotal supporting character: Nagumo, who has quickly become a favorite among fans.
The Arrival of Nagumo in Episode 3

Nagumo is not just any assassin—he stands out as one of Sakamoto’s rare allies. In a crucial moment, he informs Sakamoto about a staggering 1 billion yen bounty placed on his head by the Japanese Association of Assassins. Although he exits the scene shortly thereafter, his charismatic and humorous demeanor makes a lasting impression.
In the first popularity poll for the series conducted in 2023, Nagumo ranked a commendable second, only trailing the protagonist Shin Asakura. This is quite an accomplishment, considering that much of the narrative perspective is centered around Shin. Notably, Sakamoto himself placed fifth, demonstrating Nagumo’s strong fan support.
The current storyline adapts the Amusement Park Arc, where Sakamoto enjoys a family outing at a local amusement park, which unfortunately becomes a hotspot for assassin attacks. Lu and Shin are on high alert, striving to safeguard Sakamoto’s wife, Aoi, and daughter, Hana, while keeping the imminent threats under wraps.
The highlight of this episode features a thrilling fight between Shin and Tatsu, the lead assassin pursuing Sakamoto, aboard a rollercoaster. The choreography of the action sequences in this scene is particularly well-executed, captivating viewers with its intensity.
However, fans hoping for more screen time for Lu from the previous episode will be disappointed, as her role is quite limited in this installment.
Looking Ahead: What’s Next for Sakamoto Days?

As the manga suggests, the fourth episode is expected to continue the storyline within the amusement park setting. Viewers can anticipate more action featuring Lu and Sakamoto, as new assassins are set to emerge.
Given that each episode typically adapts around three chapters from the manga, it’s likely that this arc will conclude with Episode 5, transitioning into the forthcoming Lab Arc shortly thereafter.
