According to David Firth, the creator of the popular Salad Fingers web series, he recently revealed that he saw “smartschoolboy9″in his local town while he was still in school.
Earlier this year, a disturbing case first gained attention on Reddit and has since gone viral after YouTuber Nick Crowley released a deep-dive mini-documentary exploring the mystery of smartschoolboy9, a dark “internet rabbit hole.”
Despite much speculation and unconfirmed information, here’s what we have gathered: it is thought that his name is David Alter, although this may be a false identity due to the use of the name “Alter”. This person has shared photos and videos of themselves dressed in school uniforms and heeled boots. Additionally, there are allegations that they have managed multiple Instagram accounts featuring disturbing and altered images of children, some of which are explicit.
The allegations are currently being investigated by the police, although like the rest of the case, this has not yet been officially confirmed.
Meanwhile, internet detectives have been piecing together any information they can find, potentially pinpointing the whereabouts of Alter (or whoever he may be) in London, following his reported expulsion from Doncaster.

Where does Firth fit into this? The creator of Salad Fingers hails from Doncaster. As a result, a Redditor reached out to him to inquire about any memories he may have of a figure resembling Alter (also known as the “clown monkey man”among locals).
“I recall seeing him walking around town in the late ’90s or early 2000s when I was a student at Hall Cross School. However, he never approached me,”he responded.
According to Firth, he recalls seeing a man with dark skin between 1999-2001 who would often wear poorly applied makeup. Firth specifically remembers the man wearing a white shirt and a school tie, and he also notes the man’s peculiar posture, often walking with a forward lean.
Firth did not possess any additional information; however, he mentioned that the recent pictures of Alter resembled the individual he encountered in the late 90s.
Those familiar with the case have strongly discouraged the creation of smartschoolboy9 ‘fan art’ and the replication of his alleged accounts, but TikTokers continue to do so.
