Recent reports have confirmed the rollout of advertisements appearing on Samsung appliances, particularly on the door displays. The company has acknowledged these changes, which come alongside updated Terms of Service and a new Privacy Notice.
This update is set to introduce ads on the Cover Screens when these displays are idle. Samsung has made it clear that advertisements will not interrupt the display when it is set to Art Mode or showcasing personal photo albums. Instead, users will encounter ads presenting information related to themes like Weather, Color, and Daily Board. It’s important to note that ads previously dismissed by users will not reappear during the active campaign period, and the appearance may vary based on personalization preferences.

Idle Screen Advertising: What to Expect
While users have the option to dismiss ads, Samsung has indicated that there is no way to completely disable them. For users who wish to eliminate advertisements entirely, disconnecting the refrigerator from the internet is an option. However, such action would also disable the appliance’s smart features, which many users rely on for convenience.
As technology continues to evolve, the introduction of advertising on smart appliances represents a growing trend in the connected home market, prompting discussions on user experience and privacy.
