Despite being in a severely weakened state, Ryomen Sukuna has continued to dominate his opponents in the recent chapters of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, solidifying his position as the undisputed King of Curses.
This character possesses an unparalleled level of strength and extensive understanding of Jujutsu sorcery, making him a formidable opponent for any character in Jujutsu Kaisen.
One of Sukuna’s most enigmatic and formidable skills is undoubtedly his Fire Arrow. This deadly attack not only decimated the entire city of Shibuya, but also proved to be the decisive blow in defeating both Jogo and Mahoraga. Despite the limited information available about Sukuna’s fiery abilities, a recent fan theory has proposed that the key to unlocking its power may have been right in front of us all along.
Uncovering the Truth Behind Sukuna’s ‘Fuga’ in Jujutsu Kaisen: Fan Theory
In the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, it was unveiled that Sukuna also possessed fire abilities. These powers were utilized in the Shibuya Incident where he engaged in two battles. During his first fight against Jogo, Sukuna chanted ‘Fuga’ (open) and was able to control fire at his command.
Thanks to his newly-discovered power, Sukuna created a Fire Arrow that completely annihilated Jogo with a single strike. He later employed the same move in his battle against Mahoraga, resulting in the complete dissolution of his foe. However, not much is known about this ability as Sukuna has not utilized it since the Shibuya arc.
Despite the ongoing mystery surrounding this formidable ability, a recent fan theory on Reddit appears to have shed some light on the subject. Shared by a user known as u/TurbulentWave51 on the r/Jujutsufolk community, the theory delves into how Gege Akutami, the mangaka, had already provided an explanation for Sukuna’s ‘Fuga’ ability through the character of Hajime Kashimo.
The original poster pointed out that Akutami has a tendency to introduce new characters in order to present key concepts in the story. These concepts are then revealed to the main characters at strategic moments, leading to their acquisition of additional abilities and increased strength.
The user proceeded to provide evidence to support their argument, giving examples such as the introduction of Simple Domain, Falling Blossom Emotion, Hollow Wicker Basket, and finally, the chants.
It should be noted that the initial three techniques, designed to combat Domains, were initially introduced by supporting characters and were eventually utilized by the main characters during their battles. Additionally, the chants that Satoru Gojo employed at the start of his fight against Sukuna increased his power by 200%. These same chants were later utilized by Sukuna to execute his World Bisecting Slash, which is arguably his most powerful ability to date.
The second part of the theory presented by the poster focused on the importance of chants in altering the properties of Jujutsu techniques, ultimately leading to increased power and effectiveness. As Sukuna has demonstrated mastery in casting chants, the poster concluded that his use of the ‘Fuga’ chant enhanced the flame’s abilities and transformed it into the shape of an arrow.
The final aspect of the poster’s theory centered on the crucial question of the origin of the flames. The poster proceeded to clarify that this was connected to the initial part of their theory, which highlighted the introduction of ideas through secondary characters.
According to the poster, the technique of flame transformation had already been utilized by another character in the Culling Game arc. This character is none other than Hajime Kashimo, whose purpose in the story, according to the poster, was to demonstrate the unique qualities of his Cursed Energy.
Similarly to Kashimo’s infusion of electricity into his Cursed Energy, Sukuna also imbued his with the property of flames. He then utilized enchantments to shape and enhance the flames, leading the original poster to confirm their theory.
As evident, the three elements of the poster’s theory hold logical significance when considering all the evidence presented in the story thus far. With no clear explanation for Sukuna’s ‘Fuga’ ability, this theory appears to be a plausible explanation, particularly due to the resemblances between Kashimo’s electric abilities and Sukuna’s flame abilities.
In light of this, it is reasonable for fans to consider this theory as a likely interpretation of Sukuna’s ‘Fuga’ ability, unless Gege Akutami provides an official explanation.
