On August 19th, Seo Min-jae posted on brunch, admitting to being a drug offender.
Seo Min-jae disclosed certain details from her interview with a women’s magazine. She described it as one of the worst days of her life, occurring approximately one week after her drug use, when she suffered from severe side effects such as insomnia, depression, and panic disorder. Unable to cope, she made the unwise decision to misuse psychiatric medications, including sleeping pills.
She explained further, “After that incident, I have no recollection of what happened. According to the police body cam footage, they received a report of a woman jumping from the second floor. The timeline of events is as follows: I sustained fractures to both of my pelvic bones upon impact. I was transported to the hospital by ambulance, where I underwent orthopedic treatment before being discharged. I then underwent training at a rehabilitation hospital to learn how to walk with crutches and eventually on my own. If my injury had been any worse, I would have been completely unable to stand.”
Furthermore, Seo Min-jae disclosed that her mother was forced to leave her teaching job as a result of the incident. She reflected, “In retrospect, it was during this time that I truly understood the terrifying consequences of drug use. It was a moment of utter despair, when I had lost everything and felt like my life was over. I even entertained the thought of using drugs as an escape from reality and ending my life.”
Seo Min-jae disclosed the motive behind her decision to change her name to Seo Eun-woo. She explained, “I was constantly burdened by negative associations whenever my old name was mentioned. I didn’t want to be reminded of those painful experiences.”She further stated, “I believe it’s important for me to live authentically from now on.”
In August 2022, Seo Min-jae admitted to using drugs with former WINNER member Nam Tae-hyun. As a result, the two were given suspended jail sentences and placed on probation for consuming methamphetamine at Seo Min-jae’s residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
Despite Seo Min-jae’s claims of dating violence and sexual revenge against Nam Tae-hyun, he has denied the accusations and clarified that the two had already ended their relationship. This caused a commotion in the media.
