Shroud firmly believes that Dr Disrespect’s career is over. Following the controversy surrounding the streamer’s admission of communication with a minor, shroud is certain that there is no chance for a comeback and that Doc is permanently removed from our community.
Four years after Dr Disrespect was permanently banned from Twitch in 2020, the reason behind the ban was revealed. Former Twitch employees shared information in 2024 about Doc, whose real name is Guy Beahm, and his interactions with a minor on the streaming platform.
After Dr Disrespect admitted to his actions, he was removed from Midnight Society, the gaming studio that he had helped create. As a result, his sponsors started to cut ties with him and his long-time friends also spoke out against his behavior. In response to the backlash, Doc announced that he would be taking an indefinite break from streaming, although he reassured his followers that he would eventually return.
Despite shroud’s financial investment, he believes that there will be no eventual return for Dr Disrespect. As a highly successful first-person shooter player and multiple-time champion, shroud argues that it is a combination of age and public sentiment that will ultimately prevent Dr Disrespect from returning to the internet permanently.
Despite the ambiguous nature of their offline relationship, shroud and Dr Disrespect have frequently streamed together over the years. They often engaged in playful banter, and would take jabs at each other while playing popular shooters such as H1Z1 and PUBG. At one point, they even worked together on a Battle Royale project.
In the midst of the controversy, shroud acknowledged that Doc made the right decision by being open and honest about the accusations, rather than leaving his fans in the dark. This was in reference to their previous working relationship as content creators.
“I believe he made the correct decision,”shroud stated. “Admitting to his actions was the most suitable course of action. Although what he did was completely messed up, at least he took responsibility for it…The worst thing he could have done was continue to hide it, that would have been the worst.”
If Beahm had chosen to say nothing and not respond to the accusations made against him, “all those who stand by him”would have been left without any knowledge. Therefore, Shroud believes that it is important for the controversial figure to speak up, although he also believes it will be the final time we hear from him.
The two popular streamers have collaborated together for years.
“Despite not knowing the full context or extent of the situation, shroud emphasized that those details are irrelevant. The most important aspect is that it has been acknowledged, and it remains to be seen if the individual will make a return. However, shroud personally believes that is unlikely to happen.”
Despite Dr Disrespect’s statement that he would return after a long vacation with his family, shroud believes it is now time for him to permanently step away.
“He’s old,”Shroud stated. “At 42 years old, how can he just disappear for four years and expect the internet to forget about it?”
“I believe he may simply decide to move on and find another activity. It seems like he is no longer a part of our community.”
Despite sponsors distancing themselves and various companies and prominent brands declaring they will no longer collaborate with him, in addition to former friends publicly denouncing him and his behavior, if Dr Disrespect were to make a comeback, he would essentially be without support.
