Sneak Peek: New Photos from 1923 Season 2 Showcase Alex and Spencer’s Challenging Journey

Season 1 of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone prequel, 1923, concludes on a somber note as the characters Alex and Spencer face a heartbreaking separation. With insights from newly released first-look photos, anticipation builds around the challenges that will lie ahead in Season 2.

As the first season wraps up, Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) and Alex (Julie Schlaepfer) find themselves continents apart, consequent to Spencer’s duel. The official synopsis for Season 2 reveals that Spencer will embark on a “challenging journey home, against the clock, to protect his family in Montana.” Meanwhile, “Alexandra (Schlaepfer) sets out on her own perilous transatlantic expedition to find Spencer and reclaim their love.” This sets the stage for intense developments in their relationship.

First Look: Discomfort and Determination

The recently unveiled Season 2 images (courtesy of TVLine) portray both protagonists grappling with troubling circumstances, foreshadowing the trials they will encounter.

The first image features Spencer in a tense position, potentially ready for a confrontation. In a recent discussion related to the photos, Sklenar suggested that fans can expect significant action: “It’d be rather disappointing if he didn’t resort to some physicality. If he just said, ‘No, guys. Can’t today. Let’s just talk this out.’” He finds excitement in portraying Spencer’s more combative moments, stating, “It’s definitely a blast, as an actor, to explore these facets in the second season and really unleash his character.”

Conversely, Alex’s first-look image reflects a sense of isolation, lacking any signs of readiness for conflict. Schlaepfer explains, “At the conclusion of Season 1, she promises to meet Spencer in Bozeman, and she is determined to honor that commitment.” However, her upcoming journey appears to be far more daunting than she anticipated. “Having always had Spencer by her side, she felt secure and protected during their challenges in Season 1,” Schlaepfer elaborates. “At the start of Season 2, she is not completely aware of the dangers that the world holds, especially for a woman traveling alone.”

The highly anticipated second season of 1923 is set to premiere on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
