Solo Leveling documentary seems to set up exciting news for the anime

The Solo Leveling anime has established itself as one of the major releases of 2024, and the announcement of a documentary about the franchise has further swelled fans’ enthusiasm for the future.

Solo Leveling has had an impressive debut. The adaptation of Chugong’s novels and webtoon almost immediately found its audience. It must be said that the chosen slot was particularly judicious: season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen had just ended and season 4 of Demon Slayer will not be released before early April 2024!

But in addition to choosing its moment well, the dark fantasy anime benefited from a solid team for its creation, thanks to the A-1 Pictures studio. The story of Sung Jinwoo, a young low-ranking hunter finding himself propelled to the position of best fighter in the world, did the rest, in thrilling fights.

And the adventure seems far from stopping. Indeed, a documentary has been announced for the anime, which is only in its first season.

Is the Solo Leveling documentary a disguised announcement of season 2?

The documentary, titled The Leveling of Solo Leveling, was announced by Crunchyroll. It will be available in two parts on the platform, but does not yet have a date. However, his simple announcement was enough to surprise the fan community.

The first episode, whose working title is “A Hunter Rises,” will first focus on the creation of the web novel and webtoon at Korean publisher D&C Media. The second, currently titled “A Second Awakening” , will be an opportunity to obtain interviews with different members responsible for the anime adaptation: in particular the producers of Aniplex and A-1 Pictures.

For fans, it is obvious that offering such a documentary when the anime only has one season – and only 7 episodes at the time of Crunchyroll’s announcement – is a way of preparing the ground for season 2, or even more.

“Looks like we’re going to get a full adaptation of Solo Leveling. No one makes this kind of documentary and others for an anime of 12 or 24 episodes,” remarked a user in the comments section of the trailer on YouTube.

It must be recognized that the webtoon has enough material for a sequel, whether it is divided into seasons or films. At the moment, the documentary does not yet have a release date. As for episode 8 of Solo Leveling, it will be released on March 2, after a break.
