Solo Leveling is the most popular anime of winter 2024, but fans have spotted an “imposter” straight from Jujutsu Kaisen in some episodes.
Solo Leveling quickly established itself as the most important anime of the start of 2024. The dark fantasy story follows in the footsteps of Sung Jinwoo, a young E-rank hunter unable to defend himself alone in the portals that appear in Korea, until a strange power allows it to evolve drastically.
The series from studio A-1 Pictures adapts the famous Chugong webtoon, and has fit perfectly into a free slot: directly after the masterful season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, and just before season 4 of Demon Slayer. But as its episodes scroll on Crunchyroll, some viewers have noticed the presence of a character who seems to come from another anime to play stowaways.
Solo Leveling Fans Think Kang Taeshik Is A Little Too Much Like This Jujutsu Kaisen Character
Whether for his hairstyle or his serious look, the hunter Kang Taeshik quickly made certain spectators raise eyebrows. For them, the character looks a lot like Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen.
It must be said that the resemblance is striking: the physique and expressions match between the two protagonists, if we put aside the color of the hair and eyes. Where Taeshik has them purple, Megumi sticks to black.

“Kang Taeshik from Solo Leveling reminds me too much of Megumi and I love it.”
Taeshik had already appeared in episode 3 of Solo Leveling, alongside Jincheol, to re-evaluate Jinwoo after his misadventure in the double dungeon. In the webtoon, he doesn’t appear until later. A-1 Pictures therefore chose to integrate it into the story earlier, allowing viewers to get used to it from the start.
Another point in common with Jujutsu Kaisen: Kang Taeshik’s voice actor is Uchiyama Kōki, who is also the seiyu of Toge Inumaki, a comrade of Yuji.
On the other hand, the resemblance ends there: without spoiling it, Taeshik and Megumi do not have the same character, which spectators will be able to discover in the sequel to Solo Leveling.
