On March 8, Son Dam-bi took to her social media accounts to unveil a poster for the upcoming drama “When Life Gives You Tangerines.” She accompanied the image with a heartfelt caption, stating, “It makes my nose sting. As expected, writer Im Sang-chun, ” showcasing her admiration for the renowned screenwriter.
Im Sang-chun is a celebrated figure in the television industry, best known for his outstanding work on “When the Camellia Blooms, ”a series notable for establishing Son Dam-bi’s credentials as a talented actress.

This announcement carries significant weight given that “When the Camellia Blooms” featured Gong Hyo-jin, who has been a close friend of Son Dam-bi. Gong’s remarkable performance earned her the esteemed Grand Prize (Daesang) at the KBS Drama Awards, highlighting the show’s impact on the industry.

The series is celebrated for its masterful combination of romance, suspense, and social commentary, which deeply resonated with audiences. It explores themes of prejudice, unconditional love, and resilience in the face of challenges. Viewers have particularly praised the on-screen chemistry between Gong Hyo-jin and Kang Ha-neul, as well as the series’ engaging narrative that addresses complex societal issues.
In a recent update on her personal journey, Son Dam-bi candidly discussed her transformation post-marriage during a segment on her YouTube channel. She remarked, “I used to worry a lot and be timid, but I think I’ve grown significantly since getting married. During this break, I’ve learned the value of patience and the importance of waiting for the right moment. Life can be unpredictable, yet it is something to look forward to.”

She reflected on her past tendencies, revealing, “I was often attracted to darkness, which I thought was an artist’s peculiar inclination. I used to prefer men with that kind of energy.” However, following her marriage to former speed skating champion Lee Kyu-hyuk, she experienced a shift in perspective.“I’ve realized that I actually prefer healthy-minded individuals. I never expected my life to take this direction.” Expressing deep affection for her husband, she stated, “My husband embodies a strong and positive mindset.”

Son Dam-bi and Lee Kyu-hyuk tied the knot in May 2022, with Lee being five years her senior. However, their wedding raised eyebrows, especially due to the absence of close friends such as Jung Ryeo-won and Gong Hyo-jin, leading to speculation regarding potential misunderstandings among friends.
Currently, Son Dam-bi is stepping into an exciting new phase of her life as she prepares to welcome her first child in April. Reports indicate that she and Lee Kyu-hyuk are expecting a daughter, adding to the joy of their growing family.
