Sony and Team Asobi have collaborated to create a special edition DualSense controller in honor of the highly anticipated launch of Astro Bot.
The PlayStation 5’s standout feature is Sony’s advanced haptic feedback technology. This technology is best demonstrated in Astro’s Playroom, the free-to-play platformer that comes included with every new PS5.
As the release of a highly anticipated sequel draws near, Sony is commemorating the occasion in its signature style by unveiling a new piece of technology. In conjunction with the upcoming Astro Bot game, a limited-edition Astro Bot DualSense controller will be available for purchase.
On July 29, the adorable upcoming DualSense controller was revealed by Studio Head of Team Asobi Nicolas Doucet on the official PlayStation blog.
The ‘Astro Bot Limited Edition’ DualSense, designed by teams at Sony Interactive Entertainment, stays true to Astro’s recognizable blue and white color scheme, even incorporating it into the d-pad and button markings.
Astro’s charming pixelated blue eyes are also replicated on the DualSense controller’s trackpad, giving the illusion that he has become a part of the wireless accessory. The back of the controller even features a tiny silver emblem of Astro Bot.
How to Obtain the Astro Bot Limited Edition PS5 DualSense Controller
Pre-orders for the Astro Bot DualSense limited edition will be available starting at 7am PT on August 9, 2024 in the US through PlayStation Direct and select retailers.
The limited edition DualSense wireless controller is priced at $79.99 and is expected to sell out quickly. We suggest acting fast if you want to get your hands on one of the most beautifully designed DualSense controllers available.
The Astro Bot game will be released on September 6, in conjunction with the official launch of the limited edition controller, as stated in the PlayStation blog post.
Despite being released simultaneously, there will not be any controller game bundles available for pre-order. If you want to play the upcoming game with the adorable Astro Bot controller, you will have to purchase them separately.
Team Asobi’s Astro Bot is shaping up to once again showcase Sony’s impressive haptic technology. The developers have expanded the range of textures that can be felt through the DualSense controller, including the sensation of running on grass and sand, as well as the tactile sensation of water.
We simply hope that you will not experience each and every crushing defeat as we repeatedly fall off the edge in the fast-paced PlayStation platformer.
