According to a popular Japanese variety show, Dragon Ball Z’s opening beat out One Piece and Naruto as the most beloved anime song among foreigners.
In the latest poll released by the Japanese music variety show, Quiz! Doremifadon, Dragon Ball Z’s popularity has been reaffirmed. On May 6, 2024, the show unveiled a list of the “Top 20 anime songs loved by foreigners,”with Dragon Ball Z’s iconic anthem “Cha La Head Cha La”ranking at the top.
On this list, there are other well-known anime songs such as ‘Blue Bird’ from Naruto Shippuden, ‘We Are’ from One Piece, and ‘Gurenge’ from Demon Slayer. Additionally, popular songs like ‘Fly High’ from Haikyuu!!, ‘Kick Back’ from Chainsaw Man, and ‘Ao no Sumika’ from Jujutsu Kaisen are also featured.
‘Bling-Bang-Bang-Born,’ the popular song by Creepy Nuts featured in Mashle Season 2, has secured the 14th spot on the list of foreigners’ favorite anime songs. It is followed by ‘Tank!’ from Cowboy Bebop and ‘Smile Bomb’ from Yu Yu Hakusho.
The opening theme of Dragon Ball Z is adored by many fans of the anime. It holds a special place as the very first opening of the iconic series, marking the start of the Goku, Gohan, and their comrades’ adventures, as well as introducing their formidable foes.
The song, performed by Japanese musician and composer Hironobu Kageyama, perfectly captures the thrilling and lighthearted essence of what is considered to be one of the greatest anime series ever. The opening theme of Dragon Ball Z evokes a feeling of nostalgia, solidifying its position as one of the most cherished anime tracks.
Despite facing challenges such as the passing of its creator Akira Toriyama earlier this year and the indefinite hiatus of its sequel series Dragon Ball Super, this list serves as proof that Dragon Ball and its subsequent series continue to captivate the hearts of fans around the world.
Although DBS is currently on a hiatus, you should still continue to discover more about the Saiyans.
