Despite initial disfavor, the League of Villains from My Hero Academia has gained a significant fan following, with Spinner emerging as a particularly adored character throughout the series.
Spinner’s first appearance in the series was during the Hero Killer arc, when he became a member of the League of Villains after being greatly influenced by the Hero Killer Stain. While initially a lesser villain, Spinner’s role and significance in the story gradually increased, eventually leading him to become one of Tomura Shigaraki’s most loyal allies.
Additionally, Spinner’s character arc was one of the first to reach its conclusion in the ongoing epilogue of My Hero Academia. While some viewers may have found his fate in the epilogue to be less impactful than that of Shigaraki and Dabi, it is important to recognize the depth of Spinner’s development throughout the series. This adds to the overall satisfaction of his ending.

Explaining how Spinner’s ultimate fate in My Hero Academia is the best possible ending for the character
When he first appeared in My Hero Academia, Spinner’s unwavering devotion to the ideals of the Hero Killer Stain was immediately apparent. He idolized Stain’s methods so much that he even emulated his attire and weapon preferences, striving to emulate the Hero Killer’s path.
Despite following Stain’s ideologies, Spinner developed a different sense of morality compared to the rest of the League of Villains. This led him to question the actions of the League and in particular, the motivations of Tomura Shigaraki, on several occasions.
Despite facing constant discrimination and being treated as an outsider throughout his life, Spinner’s character is intriguing due to his determination to find purpose. It wasn’t until he was inspired by Stain’s will and joined the League of Villains that he finally found a sense of belonging.
Despite this, Spinner’s priorities were completely altered during the events of the Meta Liberation Army arc. Instead of blindly following Stain’s will, he became fiercely loyal to Tomura Shigaraki and his cause. As a result, he also formed a strong bond of camaraderie with the other League members. This was evident when he showed genuine concern for Himiko Toga before her fight against Uraraka.
The Meta Liberation Army arc was a turning point for Spinner’s character, as he became fully committed to Shigaraki’s cause and was determined to assist him in his goal of destroying the Hero society, no matter the consequences.
Despite becoming the leader of the heteromorph movement and being abandoned by them due to his destructive actions, Spinner remained true to his original resolve of protecting Shigaraki at all costs.
It is important to acknowledge that Spinner’s loyalty and friendship towards Shigaraki were mutual. In his final moments, Shigaraki entrusted Deku with a message for Spinner, expressing his determination to destroy everything until the very end. This can be seen as a testament to Shigaraki’s unwillingness to let Spinner’s support towards his dream of destruction go to waste.
During Deku’s visit to Spinner in My Hero Academia chapter 427, the latter displayed extreme hostility towards the former. He accused Deku of being a ‘murderer’ for causing Shigaraki’s death. However, after Deku conveyed Shigaraki’s message to Spinner, he had an emotional breakdown which led to him losing control and transforming into his monstrous form.
Spinner stated that Tomura Shigaraki had been a source of hope for him when he had lost faith in everything, and that he considered him to be a hero. Despite this, Spinner also revealed that Shigaraki had been his first friend, above all else. He felt regretful for not being able to prevent his friend’s downfall and subsequently made the decision to document their story and that of the League, ensuring that they would not be forgotten by the world in the near future.
Despite Shigaraki’s death, Spinner’s unwavering loyalty to him serves as a fitting end for his character. While he was unable to save Shigaraki from his demise, Spinner played a pivotal role in helping him achieve his ultimate goal of annihilating everything, including All For One.
Spinner’s character development in My Hero Academia saw him transition from blindly adhering to Stain’s beliefs to finding his own convictions and ultimately declaring Tomura Shigaraki as his hero. It can be argued that this evolution was the most fitting conclusion for Spinner’s growth in the series.
