Star Wars Battlefront II is once again experiencing remarkable growth in its player base on Steam, following a significant price drop during the platform’s annual sale.
This iconic multiplayer shooter, which made its PC debut in 2017 via the now-defunct EA Origin platform, transitioned to Steam in 2020. At that time, the game had only reached a peak of five-digit concurrent players once, specifically in January 2021.
Fast-forward to 2025, DICE’s blockbuster title, set in the beloved galaxy far, far away, has witnessed an impressive revival, showing no indications of slowing down as of the current date.
In May, coinciding with the finale of Disney’s Andor Season 2, the game saw a staggering 600% increase in player numbers, leading to server complications due to the sudden influx.
Massive Increase in Players Triggered by Sales
Steam’s annual Summer Sale, which includes a jaw-dropping 90% discount on Battlefront II, has significantly contributed to these numbers, lowering the price to just $3.99 for a limited time.
According to Steam Charts, the current sale has propelled the game to an unprecedented simultaneous player peak of 35, 321, securing its place among the top 100 most-played titles on the platform.

Recent statistics show that Star Wars Battlefront II’s player count in the past month was nearly double that of the prior month.
At this moment, the eight-year-old title boasts a player count that surpasses that of Bungie’s Destiny 2, which was released in the same year. Additionally, Battlefront II’s peak activity over 24 hours has outperformed newer titles like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
The pressing question now is whether Battlefront II can sustain this resurgence. The game’s discounted sale period is set to conclude on June 26, so for those interested in joining the action, now is the optimal time.
