In this post, Barone aimed to clarify various misconceptions floating around the community about the status of Haunted Chocolatier and its development progress. He addressed a number of rumors that had sparked concern among fans.

Clarifying Concerns Surrounding Haunted Chocolatier

One significant rumor was that Barone planned to abandon Haunted Chocolatier and merge its content into Stardew Valley. He firmly dismissed this notion, stating, “No. First, I am not going to abandon Haunted Chocolatier.” Furthermore, he emphasized that even if development were to halt, the game would not be integrated into his previous work.

Barone elaborated that Haunted Chocolatier is designed independently from Stardew Valley, constructed from an entirely new engine. He emphasized that it is not a straightforward task to transpose elements from one game to another: “You can’t just copy and paste Haunted Chocolatier into Stardew Valley.”

Additionally, Barone countered the claim that updates for Stardew Valley are merely experiments for Haunted Chocolatier. He clarified that the ongoing enhancements for Stardew Valley are aligned with its immense popularity and the expanding player base.

Another rumor that surfaced suggested the game would not see a release before 2030, a theory Barone labeled as a misunderstanding based on his past comments. Reflecting on statements made in 2025, he noted, “I said ‘I hope so, ‘” clarifying that this wasn’t intended as a definitive release timeline. He reiterated his resolve to avoid announcing a specific launch date, believing that the project will be complete when it is truly ready.

Concluding his blog post, Barone reassured fans, saying, “TLDR: I’m alive, the game is still in development, and it will come out when it’s ready. Thank you for your patience.”
