Starfield Early Patch Notes January 17: Quests, Graphics Improvements, and More

Bethesda Game Studios has shared anticipated patch details for the January 17 Starfield update, which will first be available in beta on Steam.

At the end of 2023, Bethesda developers wrote a post announcing their plan of attack for Starfield in 2024. The post promised that the The new year would bring highly requested quest fixes, new ways to travel, and mod support. Shortly after, the team also promised that the Shattered Space expansion would arrive in 2024.

Even if the DLC will not arrive immediately, players can still look forward to the imminent release of an important patch. Bethesda shared the anticipated details in a recent post on Twitter/X.

Early Starfield Patch Details for January 17

On January 12, Bethesda informed fans that Starfield’s biggest patch would launch in beta on Steam on Wednesday, January 17. The patch will include over 100 fixes and improvements that tackle all sorts of issues.

The studio said the patch includes many quest-related fixes. For example, “Eye of the Storm issues such as not being able to dock with the Legacy or data transfer not starting. Temples not appearing in Into the Unknown will no longer prevent Constellation from exploring the cosmos.

Graphics and stability improvements are also planned. They will range from “additional widescreen support to improved textures, lighting and shadows” . The post contains a ‘before and after’ example of this adjustment, as can be seen in the tweet below:

Starfield’s early patch information for the January 17 update also listed the following adjustments: “solar disk geometry, planetary ring shadows, cleared objects respawning when returning to an outpost, ship hatches marked as inaccessible, and another correction for asteroids following ships.

Full patch notes will be released next week once the Steam beta is live. As for the release date for everyone of the patch for Starfield, it will be available 2 weeks later.
