In Pixelshire, players are often confronted with a variety of tasks designed to enhance their understanding of the game mechanics. One of these tasks involves constructing a pond, which can be somewhat challenging for new players.
To successfully complete this objective, you’ll need specific tools and a clear step-by-step approach. Here’s how to create your own pond in Pixelshire.
Creating a Pond in Pixelshire

Once you reach the task requiring you to converse with Cpt. Farrell, you’ll transition from learning how to gift items to non-playable characters (NPCs) to tackling some landscaping. Specifically, you’ll need to use the Shovel tool provided by Cpt. Farrell to create a small pond that occupies six tiles.
To dig out your pond, follow these steps:
- Utilize the Shovel to break the ground layer by layer.
- Initially, shoveling a grassy tile changes it to dirt, and further digging converts it to soil.
- Continuing to shovel the soil will transform it into a water tile.
Repeat these actions across six tiles or tailor your pond to your preference.
For example, I opted for a modest 3×2 pond to fulfill the quest requirements. At this stage of the game, the best locations for ponds or farms may not be evident, meaning you have flexibility in your choice of location.
Feel free to select any area for your pond, as it’s easy to modify later unless you intend to cultivate Rice Seeds in it.
After you have constructed your pond, your next task will involve reducing its size.
Shrinking the Pond in Pixelshire

While there is no strict directive on the pond’s dimensions, I found that halving the pond’s size effectively met the requirements of the objective. To accomplish this:
- Use the Shovel and switch to the elevated tile option, which is available in the lower-right corner of your interface.
- Every time you dig through a tile, you will add a layer, thereby reducing the pond’s size.
To meet the objective while maintaining the pond, consider reducing its dimensions temporarily and then restoring it afterward. This approach helps to broaden your knowledge of farm planning as you progress through the game.
