Subway Customers Split Over Viral Video Showing ‘Proper’ Way to Eat Sandwich

A popular TikTok video sparked a renewed discussion on the ‘correct’ way to enjoy Subway sandwiches, leading to a lively conversation among viewers.

The TikTok video being referred to features a user known as Himeotheus, who shared a Subway eating method on the platform that he regretted not learning earlier.

He began the video by declaring: “After much reflection, I have realized that I haven’t been living my life the right way… It’s crazy, but I only just found out that for the past 25 years, I’ve been eating at Subway and getting frustrated when my sandwich fillings kept falling out, you know?”

However, Himeotheus found a solution to address the problem: “I was standing behind a woman in line, and she made a unique request. She asked them to remove the middle portion of the sub,”he recalls. “It turned out to be the most visually appealing sub I had ever encountered in my 28 years of life.”

He followed up by sharing a video where he physically demonstrated how to remove the bread from a plain sub.

This led to a discussion on the platform, as numerous individuals expressed their displeasure with the ‘hack’ shown in the video. One person stated, “Absolutely not! The middle is the most delicious part. The warm, fluffy, and soft bread is everything. Without it, I have no interest.”

Some people contended that the ‘V Cut’ was the only way to truly savor a Subway sandwich, as it had been the method of bread cutting used by the chain for over twenty years.

“Users strongly recommended looking up the Subway v cut as the proper way to eat Subway.”

Another person also expressed their appreciation for the “ol’ Subway cut,”stating that it had a certain charm that cannot be replicated. They added that now, when they visit Subway, no one seems to remember what the old cut was like.

“I was just about to say that! Back in the day, they really knew how to cut the subs,”one person chimed in, while others nodded in agreement.

The V Cut method was discontinued in 1999, but it has remained a topic of interest for customers. In fact, there is an online petition urging for its return. The petition describes the V Cut method as:

During a glorious time, Subway would cut the top off of their bread to create a convenient channel for placing your meat, veggies, and other toppings.

“Previously, after the top was put back on your sub, your toppings would remain intact until you finished eating it. However, nowadays, each bite adds to the mess on the paper wrap and reduces the amount of actual sub in your mouth.”

While this may not be the first time that someone’s sandwich eating techniques have gained widespread attention, it is not an entirely new phenomenon. In October, a man’s quest for a ‘scooped bagel’ took TikTok by storm.
