<p>The year 2025 will mark a significant milestone, commemorating four decades since the iconic Super Mario Bros. first graced the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in Japan. In a momentous announcement, Nintendo confirmed that the beloved titles Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be making their way to the Nintendo Switch.
During the highly anticipated Nintendo Direct presentation on September 12, the gaming giant revealed plans to bundle both Galaxy titles for release on not only the Nintendo Switch but also the forthcoming Switch 2. This exciting collection is set to launch both physically and digitally on October 2, 2025.
Major Mario anniversaries have traditionally been celebrated with significant game releases. For instance, during its 35th anniversary, Nintendo introduced Super Mario 3D All-Stars, which showcased a collection of classic titles including Super Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy.

Alongside the bundle announcement, Nintendo introduced two new Amiibo figures featuring fan favorites Mario and Rosalina. Furthermore, the company unveiled a new addition to the Mario franchise titled Mario Tennis Fever. Game enthusiasts will also be pleased to know that a version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder for the next-generation Switch is on the way.
But Nintendo’s surprises didn’t stop there. The company also revealed the title and cast for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie set for release in 2026. Chris Pratt is set to reprise his role as Mario, with Jack Black returning to voice Bowser once again.
