On May 24, a press conference was held in Gangnam-gu, Seoul for the movie “18×2 Beyond Youthful Days”which is a collaboration between Japan and Taiwan. The event was attended by lead actor Greg Hsu, lead actress Kiyohara Kaya, and director Fujii Michihito.
The film “18×2 Beyond Youthful Days”was released on the 22nd and tells an emotional romance story about a man’s quest to find his first love, whom he met in Taiwan. Hsu portrays the character of “Jimmy,”who embarks on a journey to Japan to reunite with “Ami,”his first love from 18 years ago. Kiyohara Kaya, a rising star in Japan, plays the role of “Ami,”a woman who crossed paths with “Jimmy”during a backpacking trip to Taiwan 18 years ago.
During the press conference, Hsu explained that he played the same character at both 18 and 36 years old. He also mentioned that he had portrayed similar roles in the past, making it challenging for him to create distinct emotions from his previous performances. When asked about his unique “eye acting,”he replied that he did not have any special preparations and simply followed the natural progression of the script.
At the same time, Hsu is set to star in the upcoming Korean drama “No Way Out: The roulette,”set to be released on the U+Mobile T app in July. In the drama, Hsu will portray the character of “Mr. Smile,”a hired killer who travels to Korea to take out Kim Kook-ho (Yoo Jae-myung). Discussing his role, Hsu expressed, “I have recently been involved in a Korean production and I am hopeful for future opportunities to work in Korea.”
When inquired about his preferred Korean movie, he responded, “I am a fan of directors Park Chan-wook and Bong Joon-ho’s work,” also mentioning, “I recently watched a film starring actor Son Seok-gu, and it left a lasting impression on me.”
