Target is addressing customer concerns by offering a complimentary $50 Nintendo gift card to those who preordered the highly anticipated Switch 2 console but faced delayed deliveries. This unexpected gesture aims to compensate for the inconvenience experienced by some buyers.
The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially unveiled in April 2025, generating significant excitement in the gaming community. Following its reveal, the console was set to hit the shelves just two months later, in June. Preorders opened on April 24, with most retailers promising prompt delivery on or shortly after the launch date. However, unexpected shipping delays led to disappointments for some customers.
Many Target shoppers found their new consoles arriving later than June 5, which was within the promised delivery window. In response to the dissatisfaction, Target took proactive measures by commencing the distribution of $50 gift cards to affected customers on June 26.

We hope you’re enjoying your new gaming system!” The message went on to apologize for not fulfilling the timely delivery expectation and offered the gift card as a token of gratitude for their patience.

As reported by Wario64 on X, Target’s customer service clarified that the gift card compensation is only available to customers who received their Switch 2 outside of the designated delivery timeframe of June 6-11. This specific offering is part of Target’s commitment to customer satisfaction.
Target’s initiative is not unique in the marketplace. On launch day, Walmart excelled by ensuring prompt delivery of nearly all preorders before 9 AM, and even included a complimentary bottle of Coke and a can of Pringles as a surprise for their customers. Such competitive gestures highlight how retailers are working to enhance the overall purchasing experience for gaming enthusiasts during product launches.
