On October 29, various entertainment outlets reported a concerning trend where fans, allegedly from Lisa’s Thai fanbase, have been inundating Rosé and Jennie’s YouTube channels and other social media with messages urging a boycott. A noticeable increase in tweets under the hashtag “BOYCOTT ROSÉ” has been observed, with one user cautioning, “Lisa’s supporters will go to any lengths to initiate a boycott against Rosé.”
There are accusations that Thai fans have taken action by reporting Jennie’s latest solo project on YouTube, which resulted in a temporary suspension on October 12. Some individuals are also being accused of employing macros to automate these reports.
Previously, Lisa’s supporters in Thailand exhibited strong reactions. In 2022, they publicly criticized Rosé for sending a late birthday greeting to Lisa, overlooking the fact that Rosé was in a different time zone. In 2021, they expressed dissatisfaction online when Lisa’s solo track failed to secure the top spot on a Korean music program, with one fan commenting, “Korea doesn’t deserve Lisa.”
Rosé’s latest single, “APT.,”has achieved remarkable international success, occupying the 8th spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and securing the No. 1 position on U.S. Spotify. Meanwhile, Jennie’s track “Mantra”has also reached significant heights, landing at 37th on the UK Official Singles Chart and topping the U.S. iTunes Top Songs chart — marking a notable achievement as the first female K-pop solo artist to do so this year.
Similarly, Lisa, who was the first among the trio to launch her solo career, has also seen great success. Her single “ROCKSTAR”climbed to 8th on the Spotify Global Chart and 70th on the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, she recently made a special appearance at the revived Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show held in New York.
