Recap of Episode 53: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Upon the start of the episode, Hinata receives reports from her fellow Paladins. After inspecting the Jura Tempest, Ritus informs her leader that Rimuru’s true intention may be to create a land where humans and monsters can coexist. However, she was unable to see Veldora as the Sealed Cave was strictly off-limits.

After Ritus, other Paladins also report to Hinata. Saare updates the leader of the Western Holy Church about a potential Civil War in the Falmuth kingdom, as the new king is showing favoritism towards the Eastern merchants.

Hinata instructs Saare and Grenda to further investigate the issue. In the meeting, she discloses the message from Goddess Luminous as well. The scene depicts Hinata prohibiting her allies from attacking Rimuru Tempest, as he currently possesses control over Veldora.

Despite causing a disturbance, Hinata stands her ground and asserts that the Goddess’ words are infallible. Subsequently, she announces her intention to discuss matters with Rimuru and find a peaceful resolution.

While in the midst of her meeting, Hinata is interrupted by the arrival of Reyhiem, the Archbishop of the Western Holy Church. She immediately notices that the renowned Clerics have accompanied him, but they reassure her that their presence is not a cause for concern and that they have only come to listen to Reyhiem’s reports.

The archbishop recalls the atrocities of the war, which included Rimuru Tempest’s remarkable actions. Afterwards, he presents Hinata with a crystal ball containing a message from the slime. However, instead of a peaceful message, the crystal ball reveals Rimuru challenging the leader of the Holy Church to a duel.

Despite feeling slightly confused, Hinata ultimately agrees to the duel. The Clerics bestow upon her a sword known as Dragonbuster, wishing her good luck. Despite the objections of her closest comrades, Hinata remains steadfast in her decision to participate.

As Rimuru’s messenger at Jura Tempest delivers the news of Hinata’s hostile intentions towards the country, the slime finds it hard to believe that his efforts for peaceful resolution have failed. In addition, Diablo brings the news of Reyhiem’s death. The episode concludes with Rimuru pondering on the cause of all the turmoil.
