On Friday, September 27, 2024, officials announced a promotional video (PV) and visual following the conclusion of season 3, confirming the production of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 4 and the franchise’s second film. However, specific release dates were not provided.

The beloved anime That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is adapted from the Japanese light novel series created by Fuse (author) and illustrated by Mitz Vah. Fuse initiated the series as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro platform in 2013, after which Micro Magazine secured the rights to publish the light novels under its GC Novels imprint. The light novels have since inspired a manga adaptation illustrated by Taiki Kawakami.

The announcement confirmed that That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 4 and the second movie for the franchise have officially been green-lit for production. This news was shared via the franchise’s website and X (formerly Twitter), along with a production illustration and a promotional video, right after the last episode of season 3 aired on September 27, 2024.

The promotional video featured Rimuru Tempest in a meeting with his executives at Tempest Manor, where he declared the production of the second movie. Shortly thereafter, Rimuru’s Great Sage confirmed the renewal for a fourth season.

Alongside the video, an announcement illustration was released, showcasing Rimuru Tempest with a determined expression, his eyes prominently featured.

Unfortunately, specific release details for both the fourth season and the second movie have yet to be revealed. Additionally, information regarding the cast and staff has not been disclosed, although previous cast members are anticipated to return for the new season.

Miho Okasaki will continue to voice Rimuru Tempest, while Megumi Toyoguchi voices the Great Sage. Takahiro Sakurai reprises his role as Diablo, and Manami Numakura returns as Hinata Sakaguchi. Chikahiro Kobayashi voices Ranga, and Takuya Eguchi plays Soei. Although not officially confirmed, it is expected that 8Bit studios will produce this season, as they handled the previous installments.

As the recently finished season 3 adapted multiple arcs including The Saint and the Monster arc, Territory Seizure Arc, and Opening of the Monster City Arc (The Founder’s Festival Arc), That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 4 is likely to commence with the adaptation of The Majin Behind The Scenes Arc.

Fans can anticipate seeing Rimuru Tempest and his team confronting a powerful Demon Lord, who poses a threat to an Otherworlder in Rimuru’s care. The forthcoming season may also feature adaptations of the Awakening of the Chosen Hero Arc and The Eve of the War Arc.
