The best way to beat Giovanni’s Dark Kyogre in Pokémon Go

A Pokémon Go player has shared the most effective methods for dealing with Team Rocket’s Giovanni and his impressive Dark Kyogre.

Pokémon Go is plagued by Rocket Minions, who hang out at PokéStops and bother trainers. You can also face the three Leaders of Team Rocke t, who pose a much greater threat, with stronger teams and a tendency to use their Protective Shields in fights.

Team Rocket’s ultimate challenge is Giovanni, the leader of the organization in the main games, who brings powerful Pokémon to battle the player. Unfortunately, his team changes from time to time, forcing players to bring different Pokémon to defeat him.

In his current team during the Captured Treasures event, Giovanni uses Persian first, followed by Nidoking, Garchomp or Rhinastoc. Its final member is still a powerful Dark Kyogre, which packs a formidable punch, being a shadow-infused Legendary Pokémon with a high CP.

The best ways to beat Giovanni and Dark Kyogre

A user on the Pokémon Go Reddit has shared his tips for beating Giovanni’s team and his powerful Dark Kyogre. Fortunately, players have a few options for defeating Giovanni’s team in Captured Treasures.

For Persian, the best options are Cobalion with Double Foot + Holy Sword, Lucario with Riposte + Coup d’Main, or Courrousinge with Riposte + Razor-Night. These attacks are chosen to allow the player to quickly launch Charged Attacks, forcing Giovanni to exhaust his Protective Shields.

Regardless of whether Giovanni uses Nidoking, Garchomp, or Rhyperior, the player can use an Ice-type Pokémon to exploit their weaknesses. For this purpose, a Mammoth with Powder Dust + Avalanche, a Kaimorse with Dust Powder + Ice Javelin, or a Leprechaun with Ice Shards + Avalanche will do the trick.

Finally, there is the powerful Dark Kyogre. To deal with it, the player needs a powerful Grass-type Pokémon. Those who don’t have access to a Legendary can still win with a Florizarre with Vines Whip + Veggie-Attak, a Mega Jungko with Seed Ball + Leaf-Blade, or a Blindepic with Vines Whip + Veggie-Attak.

Most of these Pokémon are fairly easy to acquire and train through regular play. This means that Giovanni can be defeated with a little effort on the player’s part, with a specially designed anti-Team Rocket team.
