Even though it’s only three episodes in, The Boys Season 4 is already filled with Easter eggs. One particularly “shocking”joke seems to be specifically aimed at someone in particular.
It’s understandable if you’re feeling overwhelmed trying to spot all the Easter eggs, missed references, and disgustingly graphic scenes (if you know, you know) in the three-episode premiere of The Boys Season 4.
The most recent sensation on social media appears almost serendipitous, but fans are convinced that creator Eric Kripke is behind it all.
“A fan pointed out on Reddit that the Starlight Foundation wall text in Season 4 Episode 1 spells out ASSFART.”
The first letters of each word in the Starlight House sign, which reads “A Safe Space for At-Risk Teens,” perfectly represent the purpose of the establishment when Annie is seen passing by.

“One fan questioned if the inclusion was intentional, while another commented on the show’s tendency to include sexual humor in each episode. One person also expressed frustration with the show’s increasing shock value and explicit sex scenes.”
“While I am a fan of Kripke and love The Boys, I also can’t help but feel that his ‘inner child’ is constantly reliving their Jr. high school days,”they expressed.
Surprisingly, ASSFART is not the most vulgar scene in The Boys Season 4 by any means. In fact, halfway through Episode 2, there is a tribute to the horror film The Human Centipede.
Additionally, the show has faced criticism for a controversial statement made by Homelander in the opening moments of Episode 1, where he commented on Ryan and Zoe’s failure to return from a campaign event with a pregnant woman.
Despite the fact that many people did not understand the intention behind ASSFART, it is widely accepted that it was intentional – although some fans argue that Kripke’s use of shocking humor goes beyond what is immediately apparent.
One person expressed a sentiment that may be perceived as old-fashioned, stating that they long for the time when the superhero scenes were not simply used to shock viewers. They believed that these scenes used to serve a purpose in the plot, citing the example of the Popclaw scene in Season 1. While it was difficult to watch, it ultimately helped the characters gain an advantage over her and discover the truth about Compound-V.
“You believe the show is excessive? You would struggle even more with the original comic,”another person criticized.
Another person explained, “According to the ‘behind The Boys’ segments, Kripke believed it was necessary to stick to the guidelines set by Amazon Prime Video.”
With Kripke just beginning to unleash his creativity, there’s no telling what other surprises The Boys Season 4 has in store. However, can it possibly surpass the excitement of Herogasm?
