August Moon

August Moon is not a legitimate musical group, though it draws loose inspiration from One Direction. In 2020, Robinne Lee, the author, verified that Hayes’ character was influenced by footage of Harry Styles.

After The Idea of You gained popularity in 2020, Lee explained to Vogue that Hayes was inspired by a combination of Prince Harry and Harry Styles. However, she also made it clear that the novel’s main focus is not on Hayes at all.

“As she approached 40, the woman embarked on a journey to reclaim her sexuality and rediscover herself. Despite society’s traditional belief that women become less desirable and viable at this age, she refused to be defined by these expectations.”

Lee later revealed that the inspiration for her book stemmed from watching One Direction videos on YouTube. She recalled saying (via The Guardian), “I stumbled upon this perfect guy and thought, ‘I’m going to drop everything and follow him and his band around the globe.’”Her companion laughed and responded, “You’re crazy, but that could make for an interesting story.”

Not only is fictional frontman Galitzine able to sing well, but he also publicly shared his thoughts on whether OD member Styles served as an inspiration for his character. In an interview with Buzzfeed, he explained that he “tried to create a character that was similar to Harry”in the sense that he is a younger man dating older women, but he also wanted to make sure that his character felt unique and not just a cheap imitation of the real person.
