The iPhone 17 Rumored to Have a Thinner Design than the 0.2-inch OLED iPad Pro

Apple is reportedly preparing to release a thinner version of the iPhone 17, which is said to be even slimmer than the OLED iPad Pro. The MacBook Pro and Apple Watch may also receive notable reductions in size.

At the Let Loose event in May, Apple revealed its thinnest device ever, the OLED iPad Pro measuring 0.2 inches (5.1mm). According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this was just the beginning of Apple’s focus on creating increasingly slim devices.

According to Gurman’s report, the iPhone 17 lineup is set to feature a brand-new model with a completely redesigned appearance that will be notably thinner than the current iPhone designs. Additionally, the company is actively working on reducing the thickness of the MacBook Pro and the Apple Watch, as stated by Gurman.

It has been reported that Apple’s top priority is to create a much slimmer phone by the release of the iPhone 17 in 2025. Additionally, efforts are being made to decrease the size of the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch.

According to the Bloomberg journalist, the intention is for the newest iPad Pro to mark the start of a new era for Apple products, setting the standard for the thinnest and lightest devices in its category within the entire tech industry.

Gurman supports the information provided in a May 17 report from The Information, which disclosed that Apple is currently experimenting with various designs for a thinner phone. This may involve using an aluminum chassis and a modified front-facing camera and sensor setup, potentially featuring a smaller hole and pill-shaped cutout.

The report stated that the upcoming iPhone 17 is rumored to run on an A19 chip and is anticipated to have a higher price point compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which has a starting price of $1199.

The release date of the slim iPhone 17 is currently unknown. However, it is likely to be launched in September 2025. Prior to this, Apple will unveil their iPhone 16 lineup in 2024.
