In an announcement video, Ali Sayed, the creator of Optimum Tech, unveiled the company’s latest Zeromouse mod kit, the V35, which boasts a weight of only 16 grams. Sayed even likened the mouse to a “Formula 1 car”in terms of performance.

Nevertheless, a prerequisite for using the Zeromouse V35 mod kit is that you supply your own Razer Viper V2 Pro mouse.

Optimum’s hardware is then encased in a minimalist shell, devoid of a scroll wheel or secondary mouse buttons. As a result, Sayed describes the mouse as having a sensation of “almost nothing”.

The mouse’s weight of 16 grams provides it with superior “inertia and momentum,”making it highly suitable for the competitive world of esports first-person shooters, where a lightweight and highly responsive mouse is essential.

In Optimum’s video, he is playing Overwatch 2 with a sensitivity or DPI (dots per inch) that is commonly used by professional players in games like Counter-Strike or Overwatch.

A low DPI setting allows for making precise small movements when aiming, minimizing the risk of missing if your hand twitches slightly.

This is the reason Optimum mandates breaking open a Viper V2 Pro. Prior to the launch of the V3 Pro, it was considered one of the best mice in the industry.

3D Printing for an Extra Lightweight Mouse

To meet its weight requirements, the Zeromouse underwent a material change. Due to complaints about the V34’s flexibility, Optimum decided to utilize 3D printing with Nylon PA 12 and SLS (selective laser sintering) for the V35 model.

In contrast to regular 3D printing, which typically relies on filament, this process involves pouring PA 12 into the printer and using SLS technology to beam each layer of the print.

In order to print using this material, it is necessary to excavate it from its tomb. Due to this process, Optimum has opted to delegate this task to Singapore.

Nevertheless, the findings enable the Zeromouse to be constructed without taking into account the typical physical limitations.

Zeromouse shows off new roadmap

Even though the mod kit is no longer being sold, it does not mark the end of the journey. While this may be the last mod kit, Optimum is preparing to release a complete Zeromouse experience.

After a quick look at the Zeromouse roadmap, it seems that the upcoming models will include a wireless version that weighs 25 grams and a wired version that weighs 15 grams. It can be assumed that removing the battery from the current V35 model of the Zeromouse would result in a decrease in weight.

The Zeromouse’s final models do not have a launch date yet, however the V35 is currently in stock and can be purchased for $65. A Razer Viper V2 Pro is priced at approximately $80.
