A male K-pop idol of the second generation is encouraging his fans to send him an increased amount of messages on the fan communication platform Bubble.
On July 8, a post titled “An idol’s inquiry about fans wasting their money and request for messages on Bubble”was shared to Instiz, a well-known online forum in South Korea.
The post featured a screenshot of a string of Bubble messages sent by Jang Hyunseung, formerly a member of BEAST (now known as HIGHLIGHT). In his post, he calls attention to the fact that there are numerous individuals subscribed to his Bubble, yet they are not actively sending him messages. He reprimands them for wasting their money and urges them to send more messages.
His messages were read by him.
“There are way too many people who aren’t sending me messages.”
“The kids who are just browsing here…”
“Don’t you feel like you’re wasting your money?”
“Please, send me some messages.”
“Only the kids who send me messages sent.”
The idol’s words sparked laughter among Korean netizens who came across the post. It was quite unbelievable that an idol was requesting fans to send him messages, considering the possibility of receiving numerous messages every day. This revelation surprised many as it showed that idols do appreciate receiving messages from fans. Some people are hesitant to send messages, assuming that their messages would be overshadowed by others.
Despite the criticism received by some idols for their lack of activity on fan communication platforms, resulting in complaints from subscribers who feel dissatisfied with their investment in their bias, Jang Hyunseung’s current situation has reversed the narrative.
Several comments posted by netizens stated,
- “The more I read it, the funnier it gets!”
- “Ah, f*ck… HAHAHAHA!”
- “Oh, this is interesting. I never knew celebrities would have these kinds of thoughts as well when they use Bubble.”
- “LOL!”
- “He is so funny!”
- “Honestly, I don’t usually send messages, because I think that there must be so many people who have sent messages before me so they’ll never see mine. I can’t believe celebrities are also thinking like that!”
- “Wow, this is freaking funny! He sounds like a personal friend.”
- “No way! The tables have turned!”
- “HAHAHAHA! He really said ‘Send me some’!”
- “The ‘send me some’ is way too funny!”
