Despite initial speculations that her father is an executive at SM Entertainment, THIS idol ended up revealing her family background on a show.
In a recently released preview for the upcoming episode of TV Chosun’s “With Father and Me,”WJSN Soobin made a surprising reveal by introducing her father for the first time since her debut.
It has long been suspected that Soobin’s father has connections within the entertainment industry, especially since the star became WJSN’s main vocalist in 2015.
Despite her desire to be recognized for her talents rather than her family background and influential father, the topic is not extensively covered.
In the show, Park Tae Hyun, the biological father of the idol, introduced himself.
“Hello, this is Soobin’s father, Park Tae Hyun. What I am currently doing is (working) as the general director of SM Entertainment Media and the head of SM C&C Management.”
SM C&C is the residence of renowned broadcasters such as Kang Ho Dong, Jeon Hyun Moo, Seo Jang Hoon, and Kim Jun Hyun.
Before becoming an SM executive, Park gained recognition for his role as Kang Ho Dong’s manager for many years. Soobin’s father’s identity was initially made public during his time working with the popular TV personality known for his programs, “2 Days & 1 Night”and “New Journey to the West.”
In addition, the two of them began working together as they were both traditional wrestlers from the same hometown of Masan, which is now known as Changwon, located in Gyeongsangnam-do. They also had a senior and junior relationship within their community.
Kang Ho Dong’s manager, Park Tae Hyun, has been with him since he first entered the Korean entertainment industry. For 29 years, Park Tae Hyun has been in charge of handling Kang Ho Dong’s career, and has recently been promoted to head and general director.
Reflecting on his bond with daughter Soobin, the female idol alluded to their strong friendship as father and daughter and stated:
“It felt like there’s a girl living inside my dad’s body. He likes to chitchat and watch dramas with me. He’s a father that is as comfortable as a friend.”
Upon witnessing this, Jeon Hyun Moo was taken aback by the unexpected display of their CEO and remarked:
“Can the CEO be this good?”
The complete episode of “With Father and Me,”which is broadcasted by TV Chosun, will be shown on May 29.
Meanwhile, WJSN’s main vocalist, Soobin, is currently involved in the musical “Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812″(also known as “The Great Comet”). She is joined by her fellow group member Yeonjung, as well as MONSTA X’s Shownu and VIXX’s Leo.
In the play, Soobin portrays the character of Natasha, a kind and innocent woman who longs for her fiancé, Andrey, who is away at war.
The performance of the musical will continue at the Universal Arts Center in Neung-dong, Seoul until June 16.
