Courrous Monkey hasn’t been in Pokémon Go for very long, but it has already dethroned another Pokémon in the competitive scene.
Courrous Monkey was introduced in Pokémon Scarlet & Purple as a new Ghost/Fighting-type evolution for Colossagate. Thanks to its superb type combination and stats, it has quickly established itself as one of the strongest new Pokémon, with attacks that its Tera Type can further strengthen.
It is now possible to capture a Courrous Monkey in Pokémon Go, either by defeating it in Dark Raids, or by evolving a Colossus by defeating 30 Ghost or Psychic-type Pokémon while it is set as your Buddy.
It didn’t take long for Swarming to make a name for itself in the competitive Pokémon Go scene, as it has already appeared in tournaments with a track record that allowed it to supplant a once-popular Pokémon.
Courrousinge replaced Meditikka in competitive Pokémon Go battles
A user on The Silph Road Reddit shared the 12 most used Pokémon in Play! Pokémon Regionals held in Charlotte. Courrousing is already the sixth most used Pokémon on the list, with 33.3% usage, allowing it to replace Meditikka, which was often seen in competition.

“I’m quite happy to see Méditikka on the start. I have a pretty good one at 1495 PC, but I’ve barely used it. Now I’m waiting for Azumarill to finish,” one user wrote, while another said, “I never built Meditikka because I was planning this (I’m poor on Stardust).»
This might not be a permanent state of affairs, as one user thinks: “He will come back. To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of the deaths of Azumarill, Registeel, and Skarmory were greatly exaggerated. Although I don’t think Mark Twain played PVP.»
Meditikka (and its Mega Evolution) was a powerful force in Pokémon Go, with a good combination of types and attacks that allowed it to perform well in battles. He was an excellent user of Riposte/Ice Fist, which Courrousinge is also good at, in addition to having access to Close Combat & Shadow Ball.
The Pokémon Go meta is always changing, with new Pokémon added to the game while old ones are updated over time. Courrousinge has made a big splash on the competitive scene, but earning a spot and keeping it are two different things, and Méditikka could easily regain his spot in the future.
