TikTok has addressed a significant number of user complaints regarding issues with its platform, confirming that these troubles stemmed from a power outage at one of its U. S.data centers. The company issued this clarification on January 26, via its TikTok USDS Joint Venture account, which oversees the app’s infrastructure in the United States.
Reports of malfunction began circulating a day prior, prompting users to express their frustrations on social media. Many claimed they were unable to access various features, that videos were not receiving views, and that critical information regarding the creator fund, including revenue details, was absent from the dashboard.
Impact of the U. S.Data Center Outage on TikTok Users
In their statement, TikTok USDS Joint Venture acknowledged the issue: “Since yesterday we’ve been working to restore our services following a power outage at a U. S.data center impacting TikTok and other apps we operate. We’re collaborating with our data center partner to stabilize our service. We sincerely apologize for this disruption and hope to resolve it soon.”

This outage occurs just after TikTok secured a substantial agreement in the United States designed to avert a potential ban, intensifying scrutiny over any operational disruptions affecting the platform. Notably, former President Joe Biden enacted a law in April 2024 mandating that the ByteDance-owned company could only continue its operations in the U. S.if it was sold to an American entity.
Now in effect since January 19, 2025, this legislation momentarily paused the app’s functionality before former President Donald Trump extended the enforcement timeframe for the anticipated ban.
