TikTok is introducing a new feature that empowers users to regulate the visibility of AI-generated content within their video feeds. This tool allows viewers to either reduce or increase the presence of such content according to their preferences.
Previously, TikTok has flagged videos that are completely AI-generated or that contain AI elements. A notification appears on the left side of the screen, indicating that the content may not be authentic. However, there are instances where certain videos manage to evade detection, leading to confusion among viewers. A recent example involved the Basin Creek retirement home, whose Halloween-themed TikTok videos gained significant popularity despite lacking initial tags that identified them as AI-generated. Discovering the truth about these videos left many fans disappointed.
Tailor Your TikTok Experience: Manage AI Content
The good news is that TikTok is listening to its users’ feedback and has announced enhancements to its content management system. The newly introduced “Manage Topics” feature will enable users to customize how much AI-driven content appears in their feeds.
According to a November 19 blog post, “Manage Topics currently allows users to adjust the frequency of seeing content across more than ten categories, including Dance, Sports, and Food & Drinks. The AIGC setting aims to help users tailor the variety of content in their feeds without completely removing or replacing any type of material.”
This means that those who enjoy AI-generated content focused on historical events can opt for a higher quantity, while others who prefer to limit their exposure can easily adjust their settings accordingly.

This new feature provides users with the ability to customize their TikTok experience, allowing for a more satisfying engagement with the platform.
In addition to the new settings, TikTok is developing “invisible watermarks” for AI-generated content. This initiative will require audience participation in flagging videos they suspect to be AI-generated, helping to ensure greater transparency in TikTok’s content landscape.
“In the weeks ahead, we will begin incorporating invisible watermarks into AI-generated content created using TikTok’s tools, such as AI Editor Pro, as well as content uploaded with C2PA Content Credentials. These watermarks are designed to enhance our ability to label content accurately and provide more context about the modifications made, ” TikTok stated.
