A TikToker’s strange video of her microwave “talking”went viral, causing viewers to come up with various theories.
In a video lasting 27 seconds and garnering more than 10.5 million views, Cecil (dieselhill), a content creator, recorded the unusual sounds emitting from her kitchen appliance.
In a video recording, the individual showed a white microwave with a green LCD display and explained that every time they switch on the kitchen breaker, they hear someone speaking very clearly through their microwave. They also mentioned that they have heard unsettling noises.
Suddenly, a man’s voice emanates from the microwave, demanding: “Talk dirty to me. Talk dirty to me!”He then breaks into a song, proclaiming: “I am a man, I am a man, I am a man, yes I am, yes I am, yes I am. I am a man, I am a man, I am a man.”

Numerous TikTok users shared their theories in the comments about what could have caused Cecil’s kitchen appliance to suddenly speak. One individual wrote, “It appears that your microwave is inhabited by a cheerful and silly ghost.”Another expressed their confusion, stating, “I am utterly perplexed as to how someone could hack a microwave.”
“A third person shared that they had heard someone mention Interstellar and now they are worried they won’t be able to sleep tonight. Another individual guessed that they may have heard noises from a nearby baby monitor.”
In a subsequent video, the creator revealed that she discovered her microwave has the capability to record voice messages and also has a built-in FM radio.

A viewer noticed that the message was likely recorded in 2014, as the microwave has a voice memo feature. The person in the video can be heard singing ‘Talk Dirty’ by Jason Derulo and ‘I’m The Man’ by Aloe Blacc, both of which were popular songs from 10 years ago. Based on this, it can be assumed that the recording was made around a decade ago.
A different individual also revealed that when they were a child, they used to record messages on their microwave to scare potential future residents. “It looks like someone did the same thing here!”they remarked.
