A number of the most devoted players of Pokemon Go have been discussing their difficulties in locating a specific type of Pokemon, but there’s a possibility that you may already have one in your possession.
Pokemon fans are notorious for their love of discovering Shiny Pokemon. These alternate versions of our beloved Pocket Monsters showcase them in a unique way by altering their color schemes and giving them a more sophisticated appearance. Additionally, the scarcity of Shiny Pokemon offers dedicated players a means of testing their skills.
Although vanilla Shiny Pokemon are more commonly encountered in Pokemon Go, the game offers various methods to add some variety. One notable type is known as the colloquially named ‘Shundo’, which refers to a Shiny Pokemon with perfect stats.
A Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Go can range from 1/64 to 1/500, but it is even more uncommon to obtain a ‘perfect’ Pokemon. Based on the collections of most players, finding a perfect Pokemon is a rare occurrence. If you have been playing Pokemon Go for a while, you can use the search prompt “4*”to look for perfect Pokemon.
One player of Pokemon Go discussed the rarity of the Shundo and made a post on Reddit titled “Just hit level 50. When will I receive this “shundo”that is often mentioned?”

Similarly, many other experienced Pokemon Go players are also experiencing the same misfortune in their search for the ultimate Shiny Pokemon. As evidenced by one comment that reads, “Despite being at level 50 and possessing over 900 shiny Pokemon and 110 perfect IV Pokemon, I have yet to encounter a single perfect Shiny Pokemon. It seems as though Niantic has a grudge against me.”
Aside from attempting to catch one and relying on luck, another strategy is to trade Shiny Pokemon since their stats are randomized during trades. This was the case for a particular player who shared their experience, stating, “I recently traded shiny charmanders with my 10-year-old daughter, who has approximately 200 total pokemon. She ended up with a shundo. I was almost brought to tears…”
Despite having a shundo, most players only possess one or two. One player shared that their only shundo is a ditto, stating, “Ey my one shundo is a ditto lol.”Another player added, “Good luck. I have been playing since the start and have only obtained 2 shundos through lucky trades.”
Ultimately, although trading may not appeal to everyone and encountering them in their natural habitat may be rare, participating in a Pokemon Go Community Day may offer the greatest chance of catching a Shundo due to the already heightened Shiny odds.
One trainer found success with a particular method, which they shared in a comment stating, “I had great results by playfully referring to every third Pokemon as a Shundo during Comm Day until I finally caught one.”
Despite numerous trainers still searching for a Shundo, they may be considered the most elusive type of Pokemon in the entire game of Pokemon Go. For even experienced players who have been there from the start, catching a Shundo is a noteworthy accomplishment akin to catching a “white whale.”
