Pikachu Tera Raid Type & Expected Moveset
Pikachu’s type will be changed to Water Tera, leaving it vulnerable to Electric and Grass-type attacks.
Of the two counter types, choosing Grass Pokemon is ideal as they have a resistance to both Electric and Water-type moves, which are the types that Raid Bosses receive STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) damage from.
Additionally, Pikachu’s Lightning Rod hidden ability grants it immunity to Electric-type attacks, meaning it is best to refrain from using them against it.
Regarding the moveset, it is anticipated that Pikachu will possess the subsequent moves:
- Thunder (Electric)
- Surf (Water)
- Rain Dance (Water)
- Iron Tail (Steel)
- Play Rough (Fairy)
The expected changes are based on the previous event in February 2023, but we will provide the confirmed moveset once the event is underway.
Best Counters
Hydrapple
Hydrapple is one of the latest Pokemon added to the franchise.
With its Grass/Dragon typing, Hydrapple has an impressive resistance to Water-type attacks. Additionally, its exceptional 120 Special Attack stat makes it a formidable opponent against Pikachu Raids.
To begin with, it can utilize the move Nasty Plot to raise its already remarkable Special Attack by two levels. This not only enhances its lethality but also negates the 2x decrease in its offensive capabilities caused by the formidable Leaf Storm.
Furthermore, when Hydrapple is hit by a move, Giga Drain not only inflicts damage but also restores half of the health lost. Grassy Terrain is a beneficial supplement that boosts the strength of its Grass-type attacks by 30%.
Brute Bonnet
Brute Bonnet is a bulky Grass/Dark-type Pokemon.
Although Hydrapple is known for its strong offensive abilities, Paradox Pokemon Brute Bonnet is a tank with a remarkable Attack stat of 127. Clear Smog is an effective move that can remove any ATK and SpA boosts from Pikachu, especially if it is holding the Held Item Light Ball.
As it endures attacks, it has the ability to utilize Giga Drain in order to maintain its health during the entirety of the battle. When it comes to attacking, it can employ Growth to enhance its offensive strength and deal significant damage with Physical moves such as Trailblaze. This makes it a well-rounded opponent that can withstand Pikachu’s most powerful attacks and retaliate with force.
Where to find Pikachu Tera Raids
To participate in the 7-Star event, simply locate the Black Crystals that shine on the game map, as they indicate the location of Scpetile Tera Raids.
Black Crystal spots on the Paldean map indicate a 7-Star Tera Raid.
Upon your return to Paldea for the 7-Star event, make sure to also research methods for obtaining Herba Mystica to incorporate into sandwich recipes and increase your chances of finding shiny creatures during your hunt.
