While Season 2 received several accolades, it also faced criticism for its staggered release, dividing the season into two parts across 2023 and 2024. Each part contained only four episodes, which frustrated many viewers.
Robert Kirkman, the creator of Invincible, acknowledged the backlash in an interview with Variety. He noted, “People didn’t care for it, ”despite his belief that the split might benefit viewers needing a break following the intense climax of Season 2 Part 1, which featured Omni-Man and Mark’s battle against the Viltrumites on Thraxa.
He continued, “I understand that when you’re enjoying a series and it gets interrupted, it can be disappointing. However, it was a necessary part of our production schedule for Season 2.”Overall, Kirkman believes that although the split was contentious, the latter half of Season 2 performed well and continues to dominate viewership on Amazon.
Looking ahead, Kirkman has committed to minimizing the gaps between future seasons.Invincible has already been confirmed for a fourth season and could potentially run for as many as eight seasons, indicating a hopeful future with annual releases.
With fans eagerly anticipating the upcoming season, it seems the best is yet to come for Invincible on Prime Video.
