Han So-hee Addresses Educational Fraud Accusations on Entertainment Show

Most recently, Han So-hee revealed on her Instagram the response she gave to a netizen who asked about her experience studying in France.

Despite my interests in thinking and transitions, I found that these systems were not a good fit for me. As a result, I made the decision to forgo attending domestic universities and instead focused on building my portfolio. Initially, I had aspirations of attending Central Saint Martins or Parsons, but upon learning about the high annual costs, I ultimately chose to attend Beaux-Arts.

Despite not attending a domestic university, I was unable to obtain a loan. I was required to have 20~30 million won in my bank account, and the funds for housing and living expenses were inadequate. At the young age of twenty, I had to use all my earnings from part-time jobs to pay for the study abroad agency, which felt like pouring money into a never-ending pit. However, my situation was distorted and misrepresented on an entertainment show.

In January, Han So-hee made an appearance on the YouTube channel “Channel 15ya”where she explained the reason behind only graduating high school.

During that time, Han So-hee mentioned, “I was accepted into a school in France. In order to obtain a visa, I needed to have 60 million won in my account. However, I did not have that amount of money at the time.”

Han So-hee revealed, “I recently took on a part-time job where I worked 12 hours a day at a bar and earned 1.8 million won. However, I realized that I could make 3 million won in just 2 hours as a model. In addition, I received 20 million won for one commercial, which was a significant amount of money. That’s when I made the decision to focus on doing three more commercials, earning a total of 60 million won, and using that money to pursue my education. And that’s how I reached where I am today.”

Previously, there were doubts among netizens regarding Han So-hee’s acceptance to a French university. It was clarified that for regular national universities, an admission certificate from a Korean university is required for studying abroad. However, for national arts universities, a high school diploma is sufficient. The actress also stated that she was unable to provide proof of 60 million won in her bank account, as stated by the Embassy of France in Korea.

Despite Han So-hee’s clear explanation regarding the suspicions surrounding her academics, some netizens continued to criticize her, claiming they did not understand her explanation and were not satisfied with it. However, others came to the actress’s defense, questioning why she even had to explain herself and stating that she did not harm anyone. These differing opinions sparked heated debates online.
